Every real product starts as an irritation, not a technology. Here is how a child turns a genuinely annoying problem into features, screens and a build order, with an AI doing the planning.

A twelve-year-old spent a week writing down every genuinely annoying thing that happened at home or school, aiming for ten entries. Number seven was: "nobody ever remembers whose water bottle is whose, so we all end up drinking from random ones." It sounds small. By the end of one afternoon it had become a real feature list, a set of screens, and an honest order to build them in - a Lost and Found app for a school, not a toy idea but an actual plan.

That is the whole method for this level, in one sentence: products start from an irritation, never from a technology. "I want to build something with AI" is a much worse starting point than "I am annoyed by this specific thing."

Can a child build an app with AI?

Not in the sense of shipping working software in an afternoon - that still takes real building, testing and time. What a child genuinely can do in an afternoon, with an AI doing the heavy lifting on structure, is turn a one-sentence idea into a real plan: the features it needs, the screens it would show, what it has to remember, and a sensible order to build the pieces in.

Before any planning starts, we make children fill in one sentence and keep rewriting it until a grown-up understands it the first time: "It helps ______ do ______ without ______."

What the AI is actually good for here

Hand that one sentence to an AI and ask for the features, the screens, and what needs to be built first, and it reliably produces something usable - a list of screens, what data each one needs to remember, a rough build order. This is the level's core exercise, and it is the part AI is genuinely strong at: structuring a fuzzy idea into a concrete plan, quickly.

The honest limit is that a plan is not a product, and the gap between the two is real work that AI does not remove. What it does remove is the intimidating blank-page feeling of not knowing where to start, which turns out to be most of what stops a good idea from going anywhere.
